Aggie Dispute Resolution: November Bulletin — Its' Been a Great Year for Dispute Resolution Scholarship and Events at Texas A&M
BULLETIN | NOVEMBER 2022
IT'S BEEN A GREAT YEAR FOR ADR SCHOLARSHIP & EVENTS
Texas A&M’s Aggie Dispute Resolution Program faculty continue to produce innovative scholarship covering and expanding the dispute resolution field. Meanwhile, other members of the Texas A&M Law faculty are also integrating dispute resolution topics into their scholarship. And besides our March 2022 symposium examining Carrie Menkel-Meadow’s contributions to dispute resolution, feminism and ethics, we sponsored online programs on negotiation, mediation and arbitration throughout the year.
"I enjoyed being exposed to a new subject matter that I had no idea existed, yet is extremely important. It was nice to get the perspectives of multiple professors."
"I liked that the course took one day to introduce us to each of the main types of ADR: negotiation, arbitration and mediation. Having one day to focus on each was extremely helpful for me."
"I really enjoyed all of the simulations and thought they were helpful in mastering the material we learned in lecture."
"I had a blast! I don’t know if I would change anything. It was very well organized and presented."
NEW COURSE - ONLINE DISPUTE RESOLUTION
"It's not often in law school one takes a course which is simultaneously (1) relevant to everyday practice, (2) highly informative about the state of the art of an issue, (3) thought-provoking, and (4) entertaining. This class met all four of those elements. It was a pleasure, and I learned a lot that will apply immediately to my legal practice."
"I would ask for this course to be made mandatory reading for all law students at TAMU. It's an eye-opening course on where the future of law and litigation is going, along with everything that is connected in the world."
NEW COURSE - DISPUTE RESOLUTION SKILLS CROSS-TRAINING
"The most useful law school skills development course I have taken to date."
Save the Date:
2023 Annual Texas A&M
Dispute Resolution Symposium
The next annual Texas A&M Dispute Resolution Symposium is in the planning stages, but we have a date: Friday, March 3, 2023. We’ll be exploring the intersection between legal tech and ODR, these tools’ different uses in the public and private sectors, and what that should mean for legal education. Stay tuned for further details.
